To those who have
a defective mental file in their brain, the EEBC has reiterated on June 24,
2002 in no uncertain terms that The Haig verdict is final and
binding, res judicat, to use their term. Equally, it is final and
binding that Assab is and remains Eritrean, res judicat, PERIOD.

Access to the sea has always been and will always be vital to
the economic viability of Ethiopia and they got it: The port of
Assab is open and ready for business to every body, every day 24x7. Other
than that, their (Wayanes and their predecessors) congenital daily dreams
and nocturnal hallucinations about possessing Assab, emotional or not and
regardless of what “ideas” they wake up with, will remain just that and let
them wallow in it. Of course, to you, Mr. Araya,
the “emotional” attachment of Ethiopians to our port Assab is more
important than the lives lost to make Assab what it is today? Now, please
allow the following question:
|
|
WHAT IS THAT ETHIOPIA CANNOT DO WITHOUT LEASING ASSAB?
|
|
|
|
There isn’t going to be LeaseHold, rent-hold, or any kind of
hold on our port no matter who or whatever is behind this disgraceful
monetary ploy. It is audacious of you and disrespectful to our martyrs in
particular and the Eritrean people in general and belittles the 30-years
liberation struggle and human sacrifice, to even mention this CRAP, let
alone to discuss it, because our sovereignty is a
non-issue. There is no price tag for our ports or a scintilla of our territorial
sovereignty, regardless of the political nature of our government for it is
the people not the government that has the last word over our territorial
sovereignty.

The “concerns” of the countries and organizations mentioned in
your piece go beyond Assab to incorporating the whole of Eritrea into
Ethiopia, which was initiated with their shameful decision to federate
Eritrea with Ethiopia against the will and wishes of the Eritrea people,
just a humble pointer! “Emotional” attachment resulting from the illegal
occupation and rule of our country is no entitlement for a piece of our
land? Who wouldn’t be emotionally attached to an oasis in the desert? The
Italians ruled our country way for a much longer period than the
Ethiopians, should they also get or are they also entitled to a piece of
our land should they express emotional attachment to our country? Just
another humble pointer!

You say that you missed the opportunity to submit your
suggestion to the president of our country when he was here in Washington
DC. Well, lucky you! He would have made you eat your suggestion on the
spot and while it is hot otherwise it would be cold, sour, and you won’t be
able to swallow it, because it is a patented absurdity and utter nonsense,
to say the least, my friend.

This
trash can only come from the enemies of our people and country. It is
garbage and an insult to all Eritreans and must be killed and buried here
and now so that we can concentrate on the ongoing democratization process
and let the Woyanes sing “The Assab Blues”. It is over, there is no
roundabout way to regain colonial sovereignty over our country. Forgive me
for re-stating the obvious: Our Sovereignty is not for sale!

Eternal glory to our martyrs, who lost their lives in defence,
protection, and preservation, yes, of Assab.
