The Eritrean's of the greater Bay area in North
California, [the Silicon Valley] gave the "Go" to their government.
Today Eritreans residing in the Bay area show their unyielding support for
their people, country and their first and only existing government.
It is a moving experiences to witnesses people from different walk of
life, religion and ethnic back ground acting like siblings, and with one
voice to overcome the challenge they are experiencing in building the country
they fought for thirty years and love dearly.
It was a witness that the cyber is really a cyber. These are live
people you see, touch, listen and feel in a real world not a Nebulas.
It is also a witness that the Eritrean Government not alien to his
people but part and parcel, that is invited by and participates with, in
discussion and listen to with a great pride.
Today November 4, 2001, The Ambassador of Eritrea, Mr. Girma Asmerom . in the
city of Oakland. Summit Health Center in a room with it's full capacity
about six hundred Eritrean's was welcomed warmly.
After he eloquently communicated to his fellow Eritrean's about the
ambitious economic plan of the country; the repatriation of the
refugees; demobilization of our fighters and the negotiation of
the border demarcation but, also zeroed in - the controversial, G'S the
[G11…14 etc ]such as Dr. Berket AND Siyum Mesfen etc…
After detailed discussion, question and answers the congregation pass a
resolution and democratically voted on the resolution by raising
hands with all but one person opposing unanimously passed a
resolution that we Eritreans in the Bay area full heartily support our
government and it's undertaking:
¨ to protract and safe guard our country
¨ demarcate our boundary
¨ protect and secure the safety and welfare of it's citizen
¨ demobilize and rehabilitate our fighters
¨ the repatriation and re-settlement our displaced people, as the
result of the Ethiopian aggression
¨ condemns any traitors like the G11…15etc that is trying to create chaos and
anarchy
Not only they showed civility towards each other and their Ambassador but also,
a practical support to their people and government. in reality by
granting US 120,000.00 dollars in a short notice and promise to collect more.
