August 22, 2002 ERITREA: Hope of many held hostage By hatred of the few M. Filli A. People of Eritrea in
unison and without question Have proven to the world
to remain one nation This will, desire,
aspiration and determination Have frustrated our
enemies all in succession World got the
message like the seven wonders Except for our own
few political power mongers Stuck in their
pre-independence mutual non-recognition In defiance of our
multi-ethnic nature and to no fruition Now adding one more
political power monger faction For no other reason
than to stay well in contention Independence raised
high hopes and expectation Dashed by the jealousy-ridden
woyane aggression Again and in unison
this was repulsed successfully Our territorial
sovereignty ascertained peacefully This revived high
hopes of the many & more expectation Only to be marred by
our own few’s political machination World got the
message over, we are one nation again Except for our own
few, playing it for their political gain Few political power
mongers are present in any country But hatred of
adversarial power mongers is evil & paltry Political power
struggles must and can find resolution But hatred creates
barrier for even a viable solution Hence, power mongers
maintain unyielding position People get polarized
along that line and distinction Thus, the hope of
many for peace & prosperity in unity Is held hostage by
hatred of few in & within our polity Political ambition
and power, all about power mongers Not people’s
interest, worthwhile that one remembers All suggestions that
come from political power mongers Are only pretext to
satisfy their political power hungers Hence suggestions to
reorganize/redistrict our State Is power mongers’
attempt to gain political real state What is all about
the hatred of the few? Hatred-based
rejection of other’s view “Nothing but the
head of PIA” reflection of hatred of few Utterly absurd,
selfish, nonsensical and not at all new “Us against them”
another reflection of hatred of few Very divisive,
discordant, and wrong, no need to spew Hatred of the few is
holding hope of many hostage Impairing work for
mutual humanitarian advantage The hatred of the
few is preventing unitary action Even in light of
imminent famine facing our nation Politicizing famine
is on top of power mongers’ agenda Not to prevent it
but in service of their own propaganda Hatred of the few
and political mongers side by side Hold hope of many
hostage for fear of political suicide Propaganda & counter propaganda
maintain the fire That hurls hope of
many for their brazen political desire Have we all become
pawns of political power mongers? Must we bow in deferment to their political
rancors? No, for they are not
our Gods or political magicians Because it is the
people that make or break politicians Political leaders
serve the people voluntarily/willingly And the people
respect and deal with them accordingly People’s will
expressed peacefully and democratically Will certainly
attract politicians’ attention automatically The will of the
people is political nightmare & so strong That Politicians
succumb to it without thinking for long Hatred of the few
must not shatter the hope of many Unity of many can
end hatred of few and yield harmony The hope of many
shouldn’t be captive of hatred of few Must be realized
best way and method the many knew Rapprochement
between each, every, and the many Will thus guide and
determine our nation’s destiny Political binary
system defies visionary multiplicity The very essence of
our national multi-ethnicity Hence, the politics
of ‘for or against me’ is a vanity Because it lacks
any kind of logical/illogical validity Thus,
open-mindedness is the norm in our political entity For no one has
monopoly over right/wrong in our society We will agree on some points
and disagree on other We break up with mutual
recognition & much closer The politics of “my
way or no way” is doomed to fail Innovative
suggestions & creative ideas will prevail Yes, Rapprochement
(M’qrirab) is for real & works Regardless of hatred of few and power monger jerks! Yes, Rapprochement (M’qrirab) works & will succeed To the surprise of
power mongers’ political greed Let’s call up EAR
and debate issues of our nation And shatter power
mongers’ political hallucination The Eritrean many
will undoubtedly prevail Power mongers &
hatred of the few will fail |
