Y2k2:  ERITREA’s trifecta

          in The Hague

M. Filli A.

It was one year ago this month in history

That ended Woyane’s expansionist theory

Intoxicated by conquered territorial games

Dared The Hague for anecdotal land claims

Challenged our sovereignty 3 times, remember

All in a row, on 13 April, 6 June, & 7 November

And that after accepting the verdict first on first trial

Sought reversal by politico-legal maneuver and denial

And what did The Hague say unanimously?

Eritrea, Eritrea, and Eritrea unequivocally

Yes, triple consecutive vindication for Eritrea

Perfect trifecta to Woyane’s frus and hysteria

Hague’s clear message to Woyane nobility

Get it; fairy tales are different than reality

There are Germans in Germany, Suisse, & Austria

Same ancestry, 3 countries, no exception to Eritrea

They are good, neighborly coexisting countries

Respecting one another’s sovereign territories

No subversive activities against each other

Cooperate & tackle neighborly duties together

“AbaiTigrai”, is a dream & ancient bedtime story

Has no meaning/validity in post-colonial country

No need for Woyane to live in denial or vengeance

Deal with it/move on & foster neighborly coexistence

Haigue is for real, expansionism dead, no exclamation

It is time Woyane tackles the dreads of its own nation

What a way to do this peacefully & a touch of democracy

Bolster neighborly cooperation, not hatching conspiracy

Woyane’s political fate is in the hands of Ethiopians

Can’t be saved by forging fake & imaginary alliance

Transcontinental aggregate of leaders of 3 countries

Seeking political redemption beyond their boundaries

To render Eritrea a political sacrificial lamp

A cover-up for their domestic political cramp

It is all but futile and Eritrea will again prevail

And the baseless aggregate of the trio will fail

Yes, Y2K2 was a year of good news to our country

It’s legal & final wherein lies our national boundary

The start of the Demarcation has now a fixed date

Time to tackle democratization of our nation state

Unity in Diversity is the slogan of our constitution

A hint for all of us to work together to its fruition

We are blessed with cultural & ethnic diversity

Endowing Eritrea with multi-visionary society

Unity in Diversity is a challenge to us, all & sundry

Asks for tolerance of other’s views in our country

Political diversity speaks for our societal nature

It is part & parcel of our nation’s political future

“A one-party system could be” in PIA’s view

Quoted 12 years ago in a magazine interview

“ a major threat” in Adulis 1990 entry

“to the very existence of our country”

Y2K3, hope will be the year of democracy

For it deserves all the necessary urgency

Democracy in Eritrea is defined by our constitution

First step is hence to engage in its implementation

All talks about p-parties is premature & posturing

Coz no legitimacy prior to constitutional blessing

But nothing wrong with people forming p-organization

To articulate and formalize their vision for our nation

The procedures of implementing the constitution

Beyond the scope here, is up to your imagination

One thing is though certain about the constitution

Requires publicly elected body for implementation

For Eritrea needs all the resources & participation

Of its entire people for smooth democratic transition

Could consist of people elected openly & individually

To form House of Representatives or National Assembly

That is the only peaceful and democratic solution

Not a coup d’ état or concocted political substitution

Using foreign force to bring about democracy is insanity

Threatens national & territorial sovereignty and unity

That’s one man’s opinion, not a proposal or suggestion

Take it as you want, certainly free for mental digestion

May Y2K3 bring democratic redemption?

Peace, order, and prosperity to our nation.

Eid mubarek, merry x-mas, & happy New Year

Peace and tranquility in our country is very near
