Ethiopia, Djibouti seek further cooperation on port utilization

ADDIS ABABA, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopian Trade and Industry Minister Girma Birru on Tuesday expressed fully satisfaction with the encouraging results brought by the agreement signed last year between Ethiopia and Djibouti on port utilization .

Girma Birru said the two countries have done their level best to bolster their bilateral relationship in general and to properly implement the agreement in particular.

Speaking here at the opening of the 3rd Ethio-Djibouti high level meeting, the minister said the two countries made significant progress in various development cooperation during the last eleven months.

The implementation of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa Yellow Card Scheme by the Djibouti side was also the other important positive development since the last meeting, Girma said.

He said the current joint meeting would review the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries.

At the session, Minister of Economy, Finance and Planning in charge of privatization of the Republic of Djibouti Yacin Elmi Bouh said that the agreements signed between the two countries were of paramount importance in seeking common solutions to shared problems.

The three-day joint meeting will review the implementation of the agreement on port utilization and services to cargo in transit.
