The Hague Blues

M. Filli A.

Border issue now in the Hague

It is Woyanés major plague

Moment of the truth though just and fair

Tis become woyanés worst nightmare

We are in The Hague knowing what is justly ours

They are there expecting what is not at all theirs

Hearing was held and conducted in closed sessions

But what took place was clear from Ethios reactions

All done according to Algiers accord and endeavor

But they can’t handle the truth if not in their favor

So they make noise to create appearance of controversy

Eritreans await verdict confident & calm as the Red Sea

The Foreign Sinster’s blurred political vision

Gave rise to his colonial treaties delusion

Treaties yes, maps no, as if two different folders

Is like General sine soldiers and countries sine borders

General without soldiers may be found in Ethiopia

But a country without borders is only utopia

Delirious Ethiopians and woyanés in the diaspora

Started singing obsolete, feudal, & imperial mantra

3000-year story of Ethiopian territorial megalomania

From Egypt to South Africa all belonged to Abyssinia

Nice fairy tale until the advent of colonialism

Brought an end to Ethiopian expansionism

Nations were results of colonialist entry

And Eritrea is only one such country

Eritrea, independent sovereign state with known borders

Accepted by UN and OAU like all other such members

It is over, colonial borders are sacrosanct realities

Accepted internationally by world communities

Colonial borders are there to stay and bound by laws

Can’t change depending on which way the wind blows

Ethiopian groups questioning sovereignty of our nation

Must be condemned not responded to for their action

Tis  in blatant violation of international law & UN Charter

Which international community must vigorously counter

It is declaration of terrorist aggression against our country

Not in conformity with UN CHARTER but to the contrary

No need to live in the past when the future is bright

No substitute for peace because violence is not right

The Hague decision is based on solid facts and no deal

Whatever they decide is final and there is no appeal

Don’t expect acceptance in a heart beat

Because to them, peace means defeat

The Hague is going to decide one way or the other

Despite their political tantrum and media blather

When verdict is spoken, Eritrea will prevail

But Woyané and their cohorts will fail

Ethiopians in diaspora

will sing a different mantra

It is: No Assab , No Cry

Hague was a bad try

Taken from and modified very slightly

No woman no cry, by Bob Marley

Nothing here for Ethiopia to worry or mourn

There will be peace in this area of the horn

Woyané war-mongers beg to play Pakistan

But US will not turn Somalia into Afghanistan

Working together through bilateral diplomacy

Can bring to the Horn peace and normalcy

Accepting sovereignty barriers

Respecting territorial borders

We can make good neighbors

And they can use our harbors

Old privileges are permanently damaged

New contracts could be easily managed

Allow me to stop here, close my sentence

Lest I cross the limits of your patience

Whom I offended, ask forgiveness

Who encouraged me, God bless

Not a writer, politician, or poet by profession

Just an Eritrean, out in defense of my nation

United we stand, divided we fall

We are Eritreans, that says it all

Tis the season and as always

To all, very Happy holidays
