Eritrea
tyrant admits Djibouti border fire, commits to pacific closure
25
June 2008 (EritreaDaily)--
Counter to prior adamant weeks long denial and blunt dismissal of any
problem between Eritrea and Djibouti as 'fabrication', Eritrea
tyrant, via his surrogate at the UN, Araya Desta, finally admitted to
military confronter with Djibouti and also assured the Security
Council that he will exercise restraint and "remains politically
committed to solve peacefully any problem that might arise between
Djibouti and Eritrea”, equally counter to prior persistent
rejection and spurning of a chorus of international calls for
peaceful resolution via dialogue of whatever is between the two
countries. Nevertheless, in and of itself that is good news to
Eritrea in particular and the Horn region in general. There is no
better option.
Appearing
before the UN Security Council's hearing on Dijibouti and Eritrea
conflict held yesterday 24 June 2008, Araya Desta recounted in plain and simple English how it all happened, yes it did happen despite the adamant negations of the convoluted mind set and cross-wired cerebral circuit of Eritrea tyrant Afawarki as follows:
“On
June 10th , this month, the government of Djibouti was
pushed (reflective of schizophrenic paranoia) to launch a provocative military attack on our units in the
border schizo. The attack by Djibouti started at 7:00 PM and continued on
11th of June. To avoid the attack, Eritrea pulled back its
forces.
On
12th of June, Djibouti again continued its attacks. This
time accompanied by helicopters. At this time, Eritrea
reiterated(voice not clearly audible) and defended itself (starts

I
also wish to draw the attention of the Council to Eritrea's
commitment that it will exercise restraint and remain politically
committed to solve peacefully any problem that might arise between
Djibouti and Eritrea. (starts

Though
Araya Desta re-stated that the Presidential Statement that the UN
Security Council adopted was “appalling”, “unbalanced”,
and “unwarranted”, all 15 members of the Council,
including Libya, “called for respect for the Security Council
presidential statement of 12 June -- in which the 15-member body had
condemned Eritrea’s military action against Djibouti, and
through which both parties were called on to commit to a ceasefire.”
These Araya Desta's remarks in front of the Security Council are not
discernible in what is posted on state-run website
as “Speech by Eritrean Permanent Mission to the United
Nations”.
Members
of the Security Council this afternoon urged the withdrawal of
Eritrean and Djiboutian troops from a disputed area in Ras Doumeira
on the Red Sea coast and called for dialogue between the two Horn of
African countries to avert further escalation of the border crisis
that had flared this month.
