Lebanese aviation authorities have blacklisted 38 countries and 7 companies, citing lack of security and public safety measures, Al Mustaqbal newspaper reported Monday.
Among the countries whose carriers were banned from landing in Beirut's Rafik Hariri International Airport are Afghanistan, Angola, Chad, Djibouti, Ecuador, Eritrea, Ghana, Guinea, Congo, Libya, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Mali, Sierra Leone, Tajikistan, Togo and Turkmenistan. The paper said Iraq's A 6-ZYC airplanes are also included in the ban.
Some of the companies included on the list are the Central African Republic's Africa Airlines, the Democratic Republic of Congo's Central Air Express and Nigeria's International Air Tours Limited, Al Mustaqbal said.
It said the Lebanese Civil Aviation made the decision for different reasons that included among others lack of security and safety, non-compliance with international standards and other technical causes. Naharnet.com- Lebanon
