Eritrea
Tyrant Forces UN To End Peace Mission
31
July 2008, United Nations(EritreaDaily)--After resisting to cave in
to Eritrea tyrant Afawerki’s multiple attempts to use UN
peacekeeping mission in Eritrea and Ethiopia (UNMEE) as leverage to
turn the UN into a Law Enforcement Agency of an independent
international court of arbitration over which the UN has no legal
authority, the Security Council threw in the towel and voted
unanimously yesterday to end it all effective today.
Expressing
regret that Eritrea’s obstructions towards UNMEE had “reached
a level so as to undermine the basis of the Mission’s mandate
and compelled [it] to temporarily relocate from Eritrea”,
Recalling
its prior condemnation of Eritrea's hindrances, the Security Council
said
the country's ongoing obstruction of
the United Nations Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea
(UNMEE)
has dealt a blow to the blue helmets'
mandate,
The
UN Security Council yesterday, 30 July 2008,
terminated the mandate of the eight-year-old peacekeeping force
monitoring the border dispute between Ethiopia and Eritrea.
The
Council voted
unanimously to terminate the United
Nations Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE), after restrictions
placed on the peacekeeping operation by the latter country undermined
its ability to carry out its mandate.
With
that, Eritrea tyrant Afawerki has succeeded in creating a precedence
for how to deal with UN peacekeeping mission if all doesn't go the
hosting country's way. Don't tell them to leave, just force them out
with impunity
by paralyzing their ability to do their job.
