Eritrea:
Paranormal or Paranoid Tyrant?
03
August 2008 Berhane
M Tekeste
Folks,
save your valuable brain cells, it is not at all worth it. Wonder no more, it is no secret. Look no further, it is right here: The Landlord of The Estate of Eritrea, Isaias Afawerki
is both paranormal and paranoid tyrant indubitably
and by all accounts.
Afawerki’s tyrannical insanity is so
obvious and pervasive that one doesn’t even know where to
start. But for the sake of brevity, let me kick it off with and limit
myself to the manifestations of such pathological mental or psychic
phenomena.
Paranormal
manifestations
Eritrea
tyrant Afawerki has an absolutely perverted understanding of all the
norms that humanity and the entire world are governed by and believe
in that he unabashedly expresses publicly loud and clear when and
wherever he gets a chance to open his mouth: Human rights, democracy,
rule of law, justice, freedom of speech, free press, freedom of
religion, national constitution, political opposition, parliament,
you name it.
For
example, mention the national constitution, Eritrea tyrant trashes it
as only a piece of paper. Mention elections, tyrant Afewerki
dismisses it as utopian. Mention free press, it is alien to tyrant
Afawerki. Mention religious freedom, tyrant Afawerki limits it to
Islam and Christianity only. Mention human rights, Afawerki dismisses
it as conspiracy to undermine his tyrannical grip on Eritrea. Mention
political opposition, it is not part of tyrant Afawarki’s
vocabulary, what opposition? He wonders. Mention political dissent, Afwarki brushes it off as
treason. Mention rule of law, justice, tyrant Afawerki discounts that
as non-existent in the entire world. Mention Free Press, it doesn't ring a bell with him. What Free Press? He ponders and then retorts "There is no Free Press".
Paranoid
manifestations
Afewerki
has a tyrannical grip on our land Eritrea and reigns over our country
only by the barrel of the gun. No constitutional restraints, no
parliament, no political opposition, or rule of law as it emanates
from a national constitution. Tyrant Afewerki rules our country with
absolute power. He is the law of the land. Tyrant Afewerki has
alienated regional and continental organizations such as IGAD, and AU
respectively and has antagonized the UN and major power USA.
Under
such circumstances, Afewarki is paranoid because he thinks the entire
world is out to get him. Afawerki becomes paranoid when he hears
calls for democracy because he perceives it as an ‘exogenous’
agenda hence western conspiracy to unseat/get him.
Tyrant
Afawerki is paranoid about any and all efforts to mediate when he
gets involved in regional conflicts such as the Djibouti incident or
Ethiopia because he perceives it as a conspiracy to get him. In an
interview with Al Jazeera TV in May, tyrant Afawerki was paranoid
about the interviewer’s questions to the extent of accusing the
interviewer of getting his set of questions from the CIA or Pentagon.
The
recent news that Sudan’s president Beshir was to stand before
the ICC for crimes against humanity sent chills down the tyrant’s
spine. Afawarki was paranoid about it for fear that he might be next
on the stand for he thinks the world is out to get him. So, he came
out protesting interference by external powers to undermine Sudan’s
sovereignty.
Via
a speech delivered by his Foreign Affairs surrogate at the 15th
Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement on Friday, 01
August 2008, tyrant Afewerki summed up his paranoia about external
powers as follows:
“..the
efforts of my Government and its partners geared towards the
promotion of peace and security in the sub-region could not bear
fruit so far because of the interference by external powers with
hidden agendas in the affairs of our sub-region. The destructive
policies of these powers encourage military adventurism by some
states against others, and provide full support for some states to
flout international law and final and binding arbitration decisions
with impunity.”
Afawerki’s
attitude towards the border issue could be summed up as schizophrenic
paranoid.
There
you have it in a nutshell what is ailing Eritrea tyrant Afewerki:
Both Paranormal and Paranoid pathological mental affliction.
Now
to Reuters
report. Admittedly, “What is unambiguously clear at
this point is the fact that there is no free press” in Eritrea.
So, how else is the free international media like Reuters to find out
what is really going on in Eritrea but to interact with population
directly and to report what they get told by the people and what
they witness with their own eyes? A report compiled this way
including pertinent 'tired and old' jokes may not please Eritrea
tyrant but it is the inconvenient truth and the crude reality of the
situation in Eritrea under the tyrannical stronghold of
self-styled-president-for-life Afawerki.
Sycophantic
surrogates of Eritrea tyrant Afawarki want Reuters to report the
situation in Eritrea from a different perspective.Well, what other
perspective is there but the tyrant's perspective which is already
being done by his tyrannical media outlet day and night and the
entire world knows about that to redundancy. What the world didn't
know was the situation from the perspective of the directly affected
people and that is what Reuters reported by getting in touch with the
people and hearing it directly from them.
No
one including Reuters is and can be against National Service per se.
But what is there in Eritrea is National Service at gun point and ad
infinitum without any legislative control for there is neither
parliamentary nor constitutional restraint to regulate it. There is,
therefore, every grain of truth in what one young man, who has served
four years so far in the National Service, told Reuters: "I
want to serve my country, but not forever".
