Asmara,
Eritrea – The head of the State of Eritrea, Isaias Afewerki,
today told UNMEE chief and senior representative of UNSG Kofi Annan,
Legwail J. Legwaila, that Eritrea is not into personnel talks but
border demarcation as decided.
“the
Government of Eritrea has no interest to talk about individuals but
border demarcation,.. any individual’s role can not contravene
the Algiers Agreement, the EEBC’s final and binding decision
and its directives connected with its implementation” said
Afeworki.
Afewerki
made the statement during talks he held today with Legwaila on the
occasion of the conclusion of his tour of duty in reference to the
current talks about the appointment of a technical expert to assist
in the demarcation of the border.
With
regards to UNMEE, “Afewerki assured Ambassador Legwaila that
in the event demarcation takes place on the basis of the EEBC’s
final and binding decision, it would not be difficult to find answers
to issues that may be raised as regards UNMEE’s role.”
