Eritrea: Afeworki On Aljazeera Riz Khan Show Today

The Riz Khan show on the English version of Aljazeera reportedly interviewed His Excellency, the ruler of Eritrea, President Isaias Afewerki about the challenges facing his country.

Most recently, the United States threatened to designate Eritrea “state sponsor of terrorism” for its alleged support of the Islamic Courts in Somalia, a charge that Asmara dismisses as “baseless.” If the designation goes ahead, sanctions would be imposed on this already impoverished African nation.

The president will, inter alia, also discuss the ongoing border tensions with Ethiopia as well as Eritrea ’s role in brokering peace between the eastern Sudanese rebels and Khartoum .
