ERITREA blasts USA on Al Jazeera TV
30 November 2006, Asmara (shabait.com) – In an interview with Al-Jezeera TV, the chief of information in Eritrea, Mr. Ali Abdu, stated that the US Administration’s intention to intervene in Somalia in the name of peacekeeping force is a continuation of its policy of political and military intervention through inciting conflicts.
Noting that the US Administration is striving to maintain the prevailing instability in the Horn of Africa through massive military intervention, Mr. Ali pointed out that the US Administration has been exerting a lot of effort to deploy huge military mission in Sudan’s Darfur region under the pretext of genocide. By the same token, it is engaged in futile attempts to deploy so-called peacekeeping force in TPLF uniform in Somalia with a view to justifying US invasion of the country through its mercenary agent.
Mr. Ali went on to explain that the US Administration has been issuing various defamatory statements against Eritrea through the United Nations which has become a branch office of the US State Department. He stressed that if the UN is at all to fulfill its sacred mandate of promoting peace and stability, it has to stop barking against the victim and instead take punitive action against the aggressor.
At a time when the Somali people are striving to build a united nation through their own initiative, Mr. Ali Abdu underscored, attempts being made to abuse the legitimate rights of the Somali people by linking the political developments in the country with the global fight against terrorism not only constitute an irresponsible political stance but are also baseless. In this regard, he elaborated that the problem is that the word terrorism has changed into a news headline and employed by mercenaries like the TPLF regime’s Premier (PM of the Woyane Rulers in Ethiopia) to serve as a means of political prostitution.
Mr. Ali further underlined that Eritrea has never viewed Somalia as a ground for proxy war, and that there is no reason at all to do so. As for talks about the ‘existence’ of conflict with Ethiopia, he emphasized that the issue has been resolved once and for all by the Boundary Commissions ruling of April 2002, and that the remaining task is only its implementation. On the contrary, the TPLF regime is engaged in attempts to balkanize and disintegrate Somalia, as well as foment confrontation among Somalis, and thereby destroy the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, he indicated.
In conclusion, Mr. Ali Abdu noted that in the event that the USA or its TPLF mercenary agent get the chance of military intervention in the Somali issue, it would create dangerous and negative security consequences not only to Somalia but also the entire Horn of Africa.
