D-Day
On Eritrea Tyrant Only 24 Hours Away
24
February 2009 Berhane M Tekeste
The
Djibouti pressure clock is ticking loud and fast but Eritrea ruler
Isais Afewarki won't relent. He hunkered down and let the first hour
of the clock[first 5 weeks] simply run out, come what will. But now
the second and last hour of the clock[the 6th
week] is ticking even more louder and faster and is approaching its
last minutes: The D-Day on Eritrea tyrant's defiance is only 24 Hours
away. Tomorrow, Wednesday 25 February 2009, the UN Security Council
will take up Eritrea tyrant's blatant non-compliance with its
ultimatum-laden resolution
1862“with a view to taking, as appropriate, a further
decision”(paragraph 8).
By
dismissing such an ultimatum-laden UN Resolution bluntly, Eritrea
tyrant Afewarki is not only making a mockery of the authority of the
Security Council but he is also daring the Council to action? Now, is
the UN up to such a challenge or will it cave in? As a matter of
fact, the current presidency of the Security Council equated 'Peace
in Africa' to the Djibouti/Eritrea conflict. How real is that? Stay
tuned, we will certainly find out tomorrow.
