UN
Did Not Deny Eritrea Tyrant's Involvement In Somalia
01
June 2009 – On
May 15, 2009 in a unanimously passed statement that afternoon,
the UN Security Council slammed Eritrea tyrant, Isias Afewarki, for
his involvement in bloody attempts to unseat UN-recognized
transitional government in Somalia.
“The
Council expressed its concern over reports that Eritrea had supplied
arms to those opposing the legitimate Transitional Federal Government
of Somalia, in breach of the United Nations arms embargo, and called
on the Sanctions Monitoring Group to investigate.” said UNSC statement at the time.

In
a press
conference at the UN on Friday, 29 May 2009, UN Special
Representative to Somalia, Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah, made the following
remark regarding reports about Eritrea tyrant's support of Al
Sahabab:
“As
for the support of Eritrea for the Islamist group al-Shabab, he said
that there was much talk of such involvement, but there was no
way for him to monitor that situation or to know the truth of such a
claim (emphasis
editorially inserted). Asked about other
foreign rebel fighters, he said the rebel leaders had extended a
welcome to such fighters and there was wide information available on
them.”
Now,
tyrant Afewarki's footsoldiers are trying to spin Mr Ahmedou's
inability to montor the said reports and “to
know the truth of such claim”as a denial of UN claim! What
a joke! When some one does not know the truth of a given claim, that
does not automatically negate the claim? It means the person simply
does not know the truth because “there was no way for him to
monitor the claim.” Nice try, again! Good luck!
