Eritrea,
Libya tyrants take turns bashing the African Union

 Libya
tyrant Gaddafi, Eritrea tyrant Afewarki in solidarity against common
enemy number one: The African Union (AU)
No surprise there! Both,
Eritrea tyrant Isias Afewarki and Libya tyrant Gaddafi, found a
common enemy in the African Union and for exactly the same reason
too: The AU is not operating their tyrannical way!
Becoming the
chairman of the AU, Gaddafi thought he would dictate the policies,
procedures, resolutions, and modus operandi of the AU! Ditto for
Afewarki!
Afewarki
started it late May following AU's call for the UNSC to sanction him,
and Gaddafi joined the fray for lack of respect for his
'chairmanship”!
And
there is no letdown! During the Conference of leaders and heads of
state of CEN-SAD past weekend in Libya, Eritrea and Libya tyrants
took turns maligning the African Union with full force! While Gaddafi
used the opening day of the session to slander the AU, Eritrea tyrant
Afewarki, via his foreign emissary, Mr. Osman Saleh, took the closing
day of the session to do the same! Nothing wrong. But to what effect?
The AU is not even slightly daunted by it and no other African
country is sympathetic to the plight of the tyrants!
First,
Mr. Saleh assured the conferees that “Eritrea would strive for
the realization of the principles and action programs of the
Community of Sahle-Saharan States (CEN-SAD), as well as promote
all-round African development and unity.” Of course, who would
doubt that? Then Mr. Saleh lashed at the AU:
“..the
weakness and ineffectiveness of the African Union (AU) is becoming an
issue of growing concern, Mr. Osman pointed out that due to external
interference, servant regimes and tools, the AU has .. become an
obstacle to resolving African issues ....the organs under the AU are
becoming illegal and irresponsible....the call by the organization's
so-called 'peace and security council' calling on the Security
Council to adopt "sanctions against Eritrea" is a vivid
demonstration of such a stance...The fact that the illegal move
lacked any substance whatsoever and was taken without consulting the
current AU Chairman, Brother Muammar Al-Khadafi, attests to its
illegality and reveals the real sponsors.” My oh My! Will
the AU ever be able to survive the outrage and rhetorical onslaught
of two tyrants-in-arms? The AU has got to find a way of pacifying two tyrants
that are sulking in a corner for not having it their way!
Godspeed!
