Text Of UNSC Resolution
On Sanctions Against Eritrea Tyrant
 Eritrea
tyrant Isias Afewarki hit with Chapter VII of UN Charter for
threatening international peace and security
24 December 2009
(Eritrea Daily)-- After determining that his actions in Somalia as
well as his dispute with Djibouti constitute a threat to
international peace and security, the UN Security Council yesterday
pulled Chapter VII of UN Charter on Eritrea tyrant Isias Afewarki and
adopted by an overwhelming vote resolution 1907 (2009) that imposes
various sanctions against Afewarki.
“Gravely
concerned about findings that Eritrea had provided support to armed
groups undermining peace and reconciliation in Somalia and that it
had not withdrawn its forces following clashes with Djibouti in June
2008, the Security Council today imposed an arms embargo on that
country, in addition to travel restrictions on and a freeze on the
assets of its political and military leaders.” said the
resolution.
