In a statement issued and posted on the website of Norway's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, Norway announced that it will close its Embassy in Eritrea imminently. In a nutshell, the reason is that maintaining Norwegian Embassy in Eritrea tyrant's Gangland is a waste of precious resources!

Current undelying principle of Norways diplomatic presence abroad as articulated by its Foreign Minister:
“The global balance of power is shifting towards the south and the east. A number of countries are playing a more significant role due both to their economic strength and their international ambitions. In order to safeguard Norwegian interests effectively, it is therefore important that we continue the process of moving the Foreign Service’s resources to where they are most needed,” said Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide.

Eritrea tyrant's Gangland is by far not one of those countries, hence Norway's decison to end its wasteful diplomatic presence in Eritrea!

"As announced earlier in 2012, changes are also being made to Norway’s diplomatic presence in Africa. The embassy in Asmara (Eritrea) is to be closed. Another mission in the region will then be given responsibility for Eritrea. The embassies in Abuja (Nigeria) and Nairobi (Kenya) will be given extra resources in order to strengthen their efforts vis-à-vis Niger and Somalia respectively. In addition, staff levels at some missions in Africa will be reduced in order to free up resources." Said the statement of the Minstry of Foreign Affairs.
