Rescued Eritrea Refugee: 'Keep searching or hundreds will die'

Footage has emerged of a rescue off the island of Lampedusa after a boat sank carrying hundreds of migrants off southern Italy.

The man, from Eritrea, said he had heard other people "making noises" in the water.

He asked his rescuers to keep searching for survivors.

A survivor of the migrant boat sinking off the coast of Lampedusa has described a fire on board the vessel.

Kahfai Gebremedhin, from Eritrea, told BBC News that a fire had got "out of control" after their motor had stopped working.

Rescuers have so far found 111 bodies, and 155 people have been pulled alive from the seas but more than 200 migrants are still unaccounted for.
