One more Eritrea tyrant's combat pilot defects to Djibouti with Jet

31 December 2013

Once again, one morE member of the Eritrean Air Force has dumped Eritrea tyrant and sought asylum in neighboring Djibouti with style!

An Eritrean combat pilot, Captain Habtom Kahsay, used his fighter jet and defected to Djibouti. The pilot is reported to have applied for political asylum in a 3rd county and is in good condition. The news was first broken by a female Paltalker and human rights activist from London with the Nick name 'fevenhager' on or around Christmas Eve in Eritrean Smerr Paltalk Room. Then another Eritrean opposition website, rubansaba.com, picked up the news and posted it to the web on 29 December 2013. Soon after that, an Italian website, africa-express.info, posted the same breaking news this time with the name of the said pilot in Italian language.

For the record, in both reports, the defecting pilot has been reported to be the one that bombed an elementary school in Mekele, Tigrai, Ethiopia, at the outset of the 1998-2000 border war between Eritrea and Ethiopia.

Yesterday, Radio Erena, a paris-based exiled Eritreans' independent opposition radio station in Tigrigna Language, reported that during the last months, Eritrea tyrant's security forces had rounded up several members of the Eritrea Air Force including a combat pilot from their homes and taken to custody.

The arrested members included officer with the ranks of Lieutenants and Captains, one of which is reportedly captain Habtom. Yet there is no confirmation whether this is the same captain Habtom that defected to Djibouti over the Christmas holidays. Radio Erena aired the news of Captain Habtom Kahsay's defection to Djibouti- listen below:
