Angolan Presidentís envoy arrives in Ethiopia
ADDIS ABABA, April 19 -- The Angolan vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, George Rebelo Chicoti, arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he is due to hand over today a message from the Angolan president, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, to his Ethiopian counterpart, Girma Wolde-Giorgis.
The message is related to the campaign of the candidature of Angolaís Doctor Luis Gomes Sambo, to the post of the regional director of the World Health Organisation (WHO) for Africa.
With the same aim, the Angolan delegation, which comprises Doctor Luis Sambo, a top official of the Health Ministry and a technician of the diplomatic advisory body of the Republicís Presidency, will travel later on to Eritrea, Mauritius Island, Madagascar, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
The same mission has already taken the Angolan vice-minister to other African countries, such as Gambia, Senegal, CŰte d`Ivoire, Ghana, Benin, Gabon, Nigeria and Kenya, where he received, from the officials of those countries, their support to the Angolan candidature.
Speaking recently in Luanda, the outgoing regional director of the WHO for Africa, Ibrahim Samba, considered Doctor Luis Gomes Sambo, to be up to substitute him in that post.
In Addis Ababa, George Chicoti received greetings of welcome from the Angolan ambassador to the East African nation and permanent representative to the African Union, Miguel Neto. - angop
