Eritrea: Sudan "targeting, criticizing, undermining" government

Khartoum, 2 Nov 04 - The Eritrean foreign minister has seriously attacked the Sudanese electronic media and Sudanese press, saying that Sudan was dealing with Eritrean issues negatively.

In a statement broadcast by the Eritrean Ministry of Information on the Eritrean satellite channel and published on the Internet, the foreign minister, Ali Sayyid Abdallah, said the Sudanese media was targeting, criticizing and undermining the Eritrean government.

He referred to the Sudanese Media Centre [SMC], saying it was issuing poisonous and disturbing news about his country.

He denied reports by the SMC that Asmara was backing the [Darfur rebel] Justice and Equality Movement and that there were diplomatic crisis between Eritrea and some African countries. [Passage omitted]
