Ethiopian premier, Axworthy discuss dispute with Eritrea
Addis Ababa, Sep 28, 2004 - The UN special envoy for Ethiopia and
Eritrea, Lloyd Axworthy, has said that based on the UN Security Council's
resolution on the border dispute between Ethiopia and Eritrea, the two
countries should continue with their efforts to resolve their dispute through
dialogue and peaceful means.
The special envoy and Prime Minister Meles Zenawi today met
and held talks on the issue. Germa Ayne has the details.

meeting between the UN special envoy for Ethiopia and Eritrea, Lloyd Axworthy's
and Prime Minister Meles Zenawi focused on the UNSC's resolution and explored
the cooperation rendered by the two countries to the special envoy. Lloyd

Meles said that Ethiopia, as always, was doing everything possible to resolve
the dispute in accordance with the UNSC's resolution, through dialogue and
peaceful means. He also reaffirmed Ethiopia's commitment to continue working
with the special envoy.
The UN special
envoy, Mr Lloyd Axworthy, on his part said that according to the responsibility
entrusted upon him by the UN secretary-general, Mr Kofi Annan, he would continue
with his effort and assist both countries in order to resolve their dispute
through dialogue and peaceful means.
