Eritrea endeavoring to curb national fuel consumption
BBC
Monitoring Service - United Kingdom; Sep 24, 2004 - Indicating
that the constantly fluctuating oil prices in the world markets were forcing
[the country] to introduce ways of curbing national fuel consumption, the
Eritrean Petroleum Corporation [EPC] has said efforts were under way to ensure
adequate supply of fuel in a way that would not harm very important and
unavoidable activities.
EPC Manager Mr
Tesfai Zekarias told the Eritrean News Agency today that there was no need to
worry since the current problem would be solved. Indicating that supply of gas
was briefly disrupted because of technical problems, Mr Tesfai said there was
now ample supply of the commodity, and the EPC was making efforts to introduce
efficient automatic refilling facilities to enhance capacity.
Finally, Mr
Tesfai advised against unnecessary hoarding of gas cylinders as the practice
was dangerous to the safety of firms and residential houses.
